Snippets of thoughts for "awake minds..."

To compose music, create, invent, produce or innovate, there is no one and only one way to do it. Of course, there are sometimes advantages and/or disadvantages depending on each person's methods, but in the end only the result counts! One can very well start from "nothing", or at least not much, as from a precise idea, a pre-established concept or a simple guiding thread and let oneself be guided by the inspiration of the moment, by improvising the melodic weave, the atmosphere, the effects, the rendering that satisfy the ears of the composer. In short, there is not only one way to proceed. All of them are probably worthwhile as long as the expected quality is there, no matter the approach or process...

On the other hand, concerning what "inhabits" the approach, the attitude and the meaning of the creative act (both upstream and downstream...), it may be interesting to look into it, to consider, scrutinize, dig into what animates the artist... For, it must be admitted that, whether one is a professional musician or self-taught, whether one is a simple amateur, a one-night performer, a professional composer or a tinkerer with sounds from the shadows, everyone creates, apart from a work contract, without always knowing why! However, with this desire to extract, provide and produce, to take something out of oneself that makes you vibrate, that stirs up your inner self and resonates outwards without the false note felt as such by the craftsman in full motion... By pushing the cursor further, it must be recognized that if it is a desire (to be satisfied), a need (irrepressible), this act is ultimately only like a tree that hides a forest, an iceberg whose tip can only be seen... What is hidden behind the creative and artistic "impulse"? What, if anything, does the expression of an artist reveal, if anything, in the practice of his art? Moreover, what meaning should be given to art, to creation? These are complex questions (too complex for some), of course, but they are worth asking if one claims an "artistic" affiliation or act of any kind... Not that the artist himself has a duty to find answers, however appropriate or inappropriate they may be. Not that the artist himself has a duty to find answers, however appropriate or inappropriate they may be. Nor that it is absolutely necessary to dig into the bowels of design to address what animates the craftsman who creates a work of art of any kind. Yet what may be of value to those who are interested in more than just their navel... The fringe of the public that asks themselves these questions, or at least thinks about them from time to time... What can give density to the "material", What may be important for those who try to deepen and give more and more meaning to things is perhaps the notion of coherence and "congruence" between the unconscious, intentions (noble or not), acts, thoughts and their scope. In other words, it is thus clearly a question of assuming the reasons (conscious or not) that push to make choices in spite of others, to take certain decisions, directions and to leave free rein to one's "creative self..." In short, for those of you who are still following me in my "colourful" philosophical flights, you should, I hope, understand a little better where I want to go! Well, normally!

The whole point of the project brings us back to another notion highlighted in the NéMéSiS-303 project: that of the title of the works produced and disseminated. In other words, what name should be given to a piece of music, for example? And above all, why this title rather than another? Don't worry, I'll make it shorter this time! There is no need to discuss the subject again since it is closely related to the points raised: the meaning, the role, the reflection or not, to have, to give in acts, compositions and other so-called "artistic" performances... The "burden" or not to be given, to be carried or not... In short: the question of the links, coherent or not, between a production, musical here in this case, and its evocative title, or not, of another field of expression, of a theme sometimes even very distant...

To close the debate, we must no doubt remember that art, culture or the creative act are expressions and "connivances" of ourselves! Like reflections animated by a will, deliberate or not, a desire, a need, an impulse to extract something from our inner self for the world around us, even if we are the only audience! So, in order to ensure the coherence of the approach at the base of the nms303 project, it would have been inconceivable not to care, what's more in a world of media, about the images and messages conveyed in filigree between the lines of well "crazy" techno music tracks! And this for various reasons that it is not necessary to develop further here, but above all with the deep conviction that finalizing the process only makes sense if it goes beyond the sole ego of the "artist" in question or the sole function of making people dance... And so, by linking a musical production and its diffusion to a societal theme (or not, crucial or banal...), the objective is achieved: to associate, connect, link, reunite, mix styles and genres, feed on inter and multiculturalisms... In short, "shake the coconut tree of norms and conventions" because having fun and letting off steam are not incompatible with the reality of a society in which having fun to change one's ideas is not so much at the antipodes of the thinking and philosophy that inhabits each and every one of us. What's more, considering the fact that, under the effects of a percussive techno sound, the vibratory power poured into the ear of the person who is tensing it and adapting to it could lead one to believe that it can "tone up" despite the "drowsiness" of some... In the absolute, one could even come to imagine that the brain can create and/or recreate certain connections that it might not otherwise have established. Who knows! (LOL) Joking aside, it would be utopian and somewhat "crazy" to come to think that music, what's more here that the sound stamped techno, can change the course of things... We must remain serious, keep our feet on the ground and our heads firmly in place! Let's be reasonable, coherent and above all remain modest! The effects of electronic music on the evolution of morals are not angelic for all that, however, we should not forget to at least acknowledge its real "emancipating potential!" Behind the (deceptive) appearances hide the realities of individuals and communities, those of human beings with their emotions, ways of thinking, reflection and perception of the world around them... So, if one or one of you will "hit" on one or another idea while listening, or reading the few essays and other reflections related to the pieces produced here, it will already have made sense. Hasn't it? What do you think about it?
