UTOPiA

Even if the adventure and the technological prowess are as extraordinary as they are undeniable, and while there is so much to do on Earth, the Martian utopia swallows up immeasurable budgets to the detriment of the needy and the suffering to which we prefer to turn a blind eye... A vast debate... However, in all lucidity and honesty, if the odyssey of the Mars Perseverance mission fascinates as much as it is passionate, it also raises the question of priorities in the conception, organization and management of a society that is stammering and staggering in spite of its progress... Because, although it is certainly turned upside down by progress, we do expect humanity to react by learning from its experiences and putting into practice the saving achievements it now claims to possess. The utopia of a planet Earth on which it would be good to live for all its inhabitants still animates a collective imagination reinforced by the idea that science and technology will offer solutions to its present and future challenges. It is perhaps then to forget "somewhat" the daily reality of the people left behind by a globalization and an industrialization as greedy and voracious as unjust, unequal and slavery-like. "One does not stop the forward march (head down!) of progress!" Unless... Unless unforeseen events occur and hinder the "beautiful" dynamic... Unless "a small pebble in the shoe of progress prevents it from walking on the path to its nirvana..." (lol) Like the current pandemic situation, events and factors not included in the "models" bring us back to the randomness and the unknown of a future in which it is all very well to project oneself with dreams, But we should not deny that the "utopia of a better world" will never be more than a fantasized vision of a comfort to which humanity aspires since it learned the hard laws... Because, if this "mental projection" serves as a "motivating" factor, the energy spent must be directed in a more ethical, sustainable and responsible direction... In a word, more mature! Something to think about! And to each his own opinions, to each his own dreams, to each his own utopia...
