Progress report on the construction site undertaken in "self-build" mode! (lol)

Starting from nothing, the NéMéSiS-303 project took shape in May last year. Conceived as a modestly 'artistic' experiment, its development continues step by step, stage by stage, brick by brick... The central idea was to start from scratch as a way of bringing everything up to scratch! Because, in a state of "electronic musical hibernation" for more than twenty years, the daring challenge was to set up a coherent approach to composition and electronic production after having been disconnected from the movement for so long!

So, with passion and self-sacrifice, with a willingness to discover and learn, and with lucidity and pragmatism, the project was born as a work-in-progress at all levels. The "artisanal" method (in other words, outside the conventional codes and circuits) offered the conditions for total freedom "concocted" thanks to the intervention of benevolent third parties, thus enabling the project to be produced at a lower cost without hindering development from the point of view of both content and its "packaging"! (lol)

Once access to digital platforms had been facilitated, it was important not to do anything foolish, to define objectives, to know why you are committing yourself and then to meet your audience! Because, without aiming at success or profitability (although it counts in order to ensure the bare minimum in return for my attentive sponsors...), the "marvellous world of self-production" extolling the merits of the digital model clearly displays its limits as soon as one does not engage in the spiral of the system and the multimedia exposure conquered at the "costs" of "lobbying"! It doesn't matter if you are a big audience or if you are recognised by the majority of people! All that matters is the satisfaction of doing things transparently by oneself while defending with conviction and independence that it is possible to do things differently than following the dictates in place.

It's been a year since I chose to embark on the adventure in self-taught and "autarkic" mode (lol) in order to re-explore electronic sounds on the basis of what I have at my disposal! So by capitalising on the inventiveness and resourcefulness of a mind curious to rediscover what lies behind the "assistive technologies" and pre-programmed algorithms available to the general public. In short, by recycling "old" equipment and investing only in the bare minimum for access to the web and its networks. The concept advocated: "happy sobriety!" In other words, how to make do with what you have, be satisfied with little and still manage to raise the level and quality even if it is more laborious! (lol) The old-fashioned way! (lol)

Because, while anyone with a few hundred or thousand euros to buy the latest equipment can compose electronic melodies with a few fingertips, and the most sophisticated audio software is accessible to most people, understanding why and how one wants to make music is essential, at least if the project has some "artistic" value that questions and gives meaning to the whole process!

*The approach taken within the framework of the NéMéSiS-303 project and the eponymous artist nms303 who is carrying it at arm's length is therefore like an endurance test without any competitive aspect, like a course with stages, an "invigorating" process such as walking forward at one's own pace... All with the aim of developing and evolving the sound, the image and the discourse conveyed!

**A year has gone by during which "4 levelling phases" will have humbly allowed us to experiment, discover and improve the basic skills in the multitude of fields which touch closely or by far on musical production. On the basis of the same modus operandi: creativity, resourcefulness, coherence and testing, a new cycle begins in June 2021, like a new beginning... Without tending towards a complete "meta-morphosis", both the "sound line and the graphic line" tend to evolve in the direction of the circumscription of a certain "electronic musical identity!" (lol)
